The tagline is "Make a positive impact on the world. Your ideas, your decision, our money." As a crowdsourcing initiative, this is potentially an interesting idea. Lots of the entries are a bit pedestrian and paint-by-numbers, though, and a bit of a chore to slog through. Still, check out the Future Feerless Females Project, and, dear to our hearts of course, The Hatchery (for industrial designers!)

Oh no, well I hope you won't think our project is pedestrian. We want to work with a few major corporations, universities, design firms and development engineers to create 4 products that could change the lives of ppl living under $2/day. 1 ground-breaking and affordable product in each of these categories: renewable energy, clean water, sanitation, and agriculture. We want to get the big dogs involved in design for the other 90%, because they can do so much more than small NGOs like ours could ever accomplish for the poor.
If you like us, throw down a nomination:

5 minutes of your time could help us win $1.5m. Plus you can nominate as many of the groups as you want. Spread the luuuurrrve.
Thanks (and sorry to be slightly spammy). I will post non-AIDG related comments in the future as I quite enjoy your blog esp that sweet Xmas gift list post. Drool.
