James Dyson, the British inventor of the Dyson vacuum cleaner, joins an expanding list of billionaires compiled by Forbes magazine for 2006, highlighting what has been another bumper year for the world's super rich
Story here.
Of course, he's tied with JK Rowling of Harry Potter fame so maybe it's creativity and imagination that makes you a billionaire?

Wasn't he already incredibly wealthy before the vacuum?
apparently not.. and he poured his own money and that he borrowed into years and years of 5000 prototypes...
That whole "5000 prototypes" was challenged by someone recently. Was that at a party? Or online? I can't remember - but much of it hinged around what a prototye really meant, if they created that many in such a short time, what really is a prototype? Each sketch on a page? It's not realistic time-wise or financially if you take the normally held view of prototype.
And yeah, if he used his own money, he must have had some amount of wealth to fund those 5000 prototypes?
