
Despite all the hype, there's always been a special place in my heart for the old Nokia brick--a real classic. It was the easiest phone to use and it never got lost in my giant bag. Alas, the sexy, sassy, slim 'n trim trend has overpowered Nokia's minimal designs, pushing them to turn their major focus to design before business goes bust. A new design headquarters in Espoo, Finland is in the works, where all design-centric activity will occurr. "It's not just a showroom, it's going to be a living, breathing, design center," says Kai Oistamo, general manager of mobile phones for Nokia. Soon, Nokia sets out to release the 6300, their new "slim phone," to compete with the Razr and other skinny minnies.
