No frozen peas here--we're speaking of the other kind. Steelcase has just launched Green Giants, a site dedicated to sharing stories about those who take big steps in sustainability and inspire others to follow suit. So far, featured Green Giants include Cameron Sinclair, Elizabeth Ogbu, and Peter Wege. The site encourages visitors to share other sustainable stories and also provides tips on how one can make their way towards Green Giant-dom.

There's certainly a lot of good information on the Green Giants site, but there's absolutely nothing there about what Steelcase is actually doing. Materials chemistry info... ok, good stuff. And what are their chairs made of? Are they following their own advice? How are they promoting recycling and reuse?
Hey Julie, thanks for asking. So many companies seem to spend a lot of time talking about what THEY do for the environment. We wanted to highlight what others do. But since you ask, we're happy to tell you that we do follow our own advice. In addition to materials chemistry analysis, we use a process called Life Cycle Analysis to look at not only what our chairs (and other products) are made of, but how much energy is used in making in them, where the raw materials come from and more. Regarding recycling and reuse, we have a program called Steelcase Environmental Partnership that will connect people who no longer need/want our product with ways they can donate or recycle that product.
You can find more of our environmental policies and actions at this link:

Thanks.
