In 2005, Tadashi Yanai, founder of Fast Retailing, reclaimed his 2002 title as Uniqlo president with a clear goal of making Uniqlo the #1 casual clothing retailer in the world. Since his take-over, Uniqlo's sales in Japan have soared thanks to strategic, well-designed marketing moves. NYC has basked in the mystery of Uniqlo's US endeavors for the past few months, only to be pleasantly surprised with a nice follow through right here in SoHo. From billboards to print ads, store planning to merchandising, and of the course the clothing design itself, Uniqlo's subtle yet fresh approach may just be enough to fulfill Yanai's high expectations.
