Could-double-as-a-holiday-catalogue, I.D.'s new issue (sadly not yet online) features the best of the best hot and cool everything. What it really seems to point to, though, is a new-found modernism, with lots of products featuring their bones (Swedish designer Malin Palm's Emporors Lamp; Arper's Leaf Chaise), and others laying on just a thin veneer of meat (Gruppo Ragaini's Random Radiator; Philippe Starck's Maclaren.) Editorial choice? Current Zeitgeist? State of design? Not sure, but somehow meat and bones points nicely to an honesty of materials--with last year's tracery and over-witticisms held (just) a bit in check.
