

There's a real growth in semi-DIY professional events, known as unconferences, where the focus is on conversation over presentation, where the group creates not only the content, but often the infrastructure for the event itself. These events ideally supplement, rather than replace, traditional conferences.
Recently there was DCamp in Palo Alto (my writeup is here), and coming up this weekend is Overlap "about merging business practices with design-centric problem solving and customer understanding." We'll likely have some post-Overlap-something to blog next week.
