Habana Labs has recently deployed the first of many in-depth workshops that explore modern solutions in ecology and sustainable energy. The community-driven organization aims to educate and motivate local and online groups to discover the potential applications of energy and eco-technology advancements. The Lab is supported by the design and engineering expertise of Brooklyn-based design firm Glide, Inc., while also backed by partnering companies who advocate the movement towards greener energy and technology. The Lab's first workshop was held last Saturday, December 2nd, with over 25 participants who designed, built, and tested small wind turbines.
Through doing so they gained first hand experience with small wind power systems and participated in laying the groundwork for an exciting clean energy project in the NYC community. The workshop experience will feed into the design of a larger permanent turbine in the spring of 2007.
Check back for upcoming workshops to take place during the first weekend of each month until March 2007.
