Picnic 2010 is coming up fast, happening in Amsterdam from the 22 through the 24th of September. The festival, now six years in the running, brings together creative and business leaders to work together on finding innovative answers to some of the world's biggest questions. This year, the theme is "Redesign the World," excerpted above. The theme is subdivided into sections that examine design's relationship to developments in biology, media, urban planning, design itself and business.
The world around us is changing fast, and not all the changes are positive. We're facing the biggest natural, social and economic challenges our world has ever seen. We've addressed some of these issues in the past, but the days of just talking are over. It's time to take action.
Sample talks include: Life Sciences De-Mystified with Denise Caruso, Redesign Media with Cory Doctorow, and Future City Mobility with Mitchell Joachim.

With apologies to Dorothy Day - A humble request, but worthwhile challenge I think - design a world in which it is easier and/or more compelling for all to be responsible, creative, and "nice" than irresponsible, destructive, and malicious.
