The UNESCO Creativity Workshop is an innovative design workshop taking place this year in Turin, Italy from 15 to 28 October.
For two weeks, 20 participants will live and work together in close contact with children with special needs to develop new toys that encourage play and also fulfill therapeutic goals.
The most interesting toy prototypes will be exhibited and refined for an easy and affordable "do-it-yourself" manual to be used by parents and care providers.

I actually participated in two of these workshops in Europe, one in Italy and one in Great Britain. Its really gratifying to donate your creativity to improve a child's development!!!
Below is a link of what on of my designs: homemade board game to improve hand eye coordination - constructed with tennis balls a round board and some rubber bands and a necklace.

The idea of the workshop is to design products with accessible materials that a regular parent could find at home or in a local shop, modify them and create a toy for your own child.
Here is another example: Polpo (octopus in Italian) made from bicycle tire tubes and some water-bottles (the eyes are made with the bottom of the bottles and some black buttons) each tentacle provided a different sensorial experience. hot/cold sound, smell etc.
