Hyomi Kim
Hong Kong, HK

Featured Project : Wall Outlet

Hyomi Kim's safety-conscious wall outlet concept aims to prevent injury and electrocution incidents that often occur with small children (and careless adults). The injection-molded components work together to cover plug/socket connection points and hold loose wires into place. Kim's attractive renderings and presentations provide a clear explanation of the product and its features with minimal text support. Check out that exploded view!

this outlet is blue and has a fun lil door to open and close...if I were a child I would DEFINATELY want to play with it..kind of defeats the purpose no?

Good except what if you trip over the plug? How will this respond? Current models allow for the plug to come out relatively easily. The Mag-Safe power adapters by Apple seem to indicate a need for a "quick release." This seems to work against that concept.

they would gather dust inside them, thus creating an electrical fire hazard ...
the holes should face downwards

no comments on anything? a bit too much censorship perhaps?
no comments allowed = no fun.
justified criticism helps products improve. unjustified praise kills them.

JroDecember 22, 2006 3:26 PM

Joel - I 100% agree with you. I attempted to post a constructive opinion of the product and was flatly turned down... what, only professors are allowed to evaluate a design?

menosketiagoDecember 22, 2006 4:56 PM

genious! finally a suitable solution for eletrical outputs!

squirrelbaitDecember 22, 2006 9:04 PM

Just fyi to everyone that is upset- we have to manually approve each comment because all you spammers out there are jerks! So don't get mad, just be patient and wait a few for your comment to show up. Thanks!

Actualy is a good design, but you can develope it make it nice a bit.

mary jsDecember 25, 2006 9:59 PM

To be honest I have few plugs that have that shape, most of them have big box shapes( for chargers and such) or they have that vertical wire, so they wouldn't fit inside this wall outlet, but the idea is cool, just needs to be compatible to more types of plugs/wires
