Okay, let's kick it back oldskool for a hot minute...does anyone recognize this ancient piece of machinery? Why yes, it is one the very first, if not officially the first, digital camera--ever. At a whopping 0.3 megapixels, the Apple Quicktake 100 digital camera was targeted for the K-12 audience, with a going rate of about $750 back in '94. Mr. van de Loo's involvement with Apple dates way before the infamous Mr. Ive, who's first iMac looks like a cousin to this Apple Studio Monitor 21 below, one of the great first introductions of fun color to major electronics.

Now let's not jump to conclusions that Mr. van de Loo is some kind of design dinosaur rotting in a blue foam tar pit somewhere--in fact, he's quite the contrary. Check this out:

Look familiar? That's right kids! It's a Sidekick 2...the device many a youngster would just die without. I mean, imagine a world without supersonic texting and a cool flippy screen thing with a built in camera for flashy myspace pix...it would be devastating (to those between the ages of 14 and 25+). The Sidekick most definitely revolutionized the world of texting with it's sleek, youthful body and easy-to-use interface. Marc van de Loo has proven to be a truly innovative designer over the course of 15+ years from his education at Art Center to his present day position as principal of Studio Taktika in Palo Alto.
