Featured Projects : Ceramic Blocks and Oyule
Brooklyn-based designer and recent Pratt graduate Sergio Silva introduces a few new curious items that experiment with materials perception. His Ceramic Blocks convey the same shape and visual weight of a traditional cinderblock, however their seemingly rock-solid structure is compromised by the use of fragile, yet elegant ceramic clay. The Oyule lamp is a modern-day lightbulb that has travelled back in time, providing light as a traditional oil lamp.

My parents have had an oil-lamp just like that one, for as long as I can remember ..only it wasn't designed by Brooklyn based designer and Pratt graduate Sergio Silva (no offense)
My question: Can one take credit for one's subcontious design imitations?
Genius and whimsical (if not entirely original, Jonas). I wish they would mass produce these.
Should he take credit? at least some. who knows how grand the collective unconscious is, and what better archetypes for an idea than a flame/spark and lightbulb?
When simplicity is strived for similarities among designs will always be present. Fun Designs.
