Featured Project : User Research - Personal Grooming
Mr. Hastings' Personal Grooming project focuses on creating a well-designed product, functionally and aesthetically, via extensive research and ideation. Any product design teacher would be thrilled to have this young man in their class--especially the ones over at Mass Art! Hastings' full-circle process includes in-depth research, illustrative storyboards, and diverse ideation sketches. The end goal is to yield a safe, easy to use, attractive, fast, effective curling iron. His final design is represented by a 3D rendering supported by a call-out page that explains each component that makes this solution stand out from the rest. Make sure to check out Mr. Hastings' other projects, as they exhibit a similar wholeness and success in using visual tools to tell a story and clearly describe the concept.

Good stuff. It's great to see someone spending time designing an everyday object both aesthetically and functionally without trying to elevate to a snooty high art level, or take it down to manufacturing 101. Solid great design, visually presented. Nice!
Is it just me or does anyone else allso think that this looks a lot like marc newsons work for sassoon
I can understand the similarities however, I can assure you that the final design is a result of development from my research and my fetish for that tone of green, and not a rehash of Mr. Newson's work (whom I respect greatly and wasn't even aware of his irons until mentioned above).
