In celebration of the launch of this year's Greener Gadgets Design Competition 2009, we are taking a periodic look at some of the standout entries from last year's Greener Gadget Design Competition. Below is one of our favorites: KRANK.
KRANK' the handle for a minute, get 40 to 60 minutes of bright light. This manual L.E.D fixture uses the principle of magnetic induction. Every time you turn the 'krank' a magnet surrounded by copper coil agitates, producing sufficient voltage to power the L.E.D.s that'll light-up your space.
