One more thing to do over the holiday weekend: Get your entry into the Betacup Challenge and get in the running for one of two $10,000 prizes.
The Betacup competition was launched a couple months ago to challenge designers to come up with a way to eliminate, or at least seriously reduce, the use of paper coffee cups, which are non-recyclable.
We've been posting our favorites over the competition's long run. Now it's come to a close and we want you to make one last push to enter, if you haven't already.

This close to the deadline, the entries are getting really creative. We were delighted to find a couple that use air, both to different ends. Tallac Design's Bucky Air Cup replaces insulating material with air, to cut down on the amound of material needed. On the flipside, designlab's Air Cup, uses inflatability to increase the portability of a resuable cup. Both of their two schemes include a strange, but smart, "drinking flap."

Jovoto needs to start a competition for a better Jovoto website.
Designlab's work looks uber-cool! Loved the idea of exchanging the used aircup with a clean one at the store!
So what if they're not recyclable? They're MADE from recycled material and are biodegradable.
