Two months ago, we posted about Local Motors' Terra Prix 2085 design competition, a hypothetical 'round-the-world race set in the near future (read the full brief here). While it's no surprise that there's some overlap between the Coroflot community and that of Local Motors, we're pleased to present a selection of Flotspotted entries, including winner Victor Acuña's "Global Spirit Racing."
Congrats on the win, Victor!

Why do transportation designers always have to re-design the wheels? No car or wheeled transport has these crazy wheels with hexagons and stuff all over them. Theres no reason for it, and ts never gonna happen!
If you want your design to look legit, put some real-ass wheels on there!!!!!!!
Cool work otherwise.
@ Evan... please reseach a bit. Actually there are some "non-convnetional" wheels used already. A "few" designs above have advantages (not to say that the designer (s) actually had the physical/ mechanical principles in mind when designing). A few examples are the Lunar Rover's Metal Wheels and the Tweel... those are two that come time mind.
Yeah the tweels on the lunar rover are prohibitively expensive and actually dont work well over rough terrain, so they only put them on for show, but normally the rover runs tractor tires because they work and are easy to repair! Ive done the research.
Notice also that the concept with real rubber tires won the competition.
really cool....nothing is impossible...great desginer doesn't afraid of no legit. once people clamoring, bladeless fan is impossible, without ink people cannot write.
but now we have aircond and bladeless fan. we have email, no need ink.
Hey Evan... guess what, the cars ARENT REAL! I'm glad you've done research on lunar tractor treads, but this is a made up contest, for a made up scenario, in a made up world.
NONE of this is going to happen, it's all conceptual. Open your mind a little bit. The designers are just having a good time experimenting with new ideas. Without stuff like this, there is no progression or free thinking within design.
The winning project(global spirit racing) is just a joke....have a look at Daniel Simon s stuff on cosmic motor! How can they let him win a design contest??? This project is just ridiculous! It is a copy!
Please guys check cosmic motors website and compare....
