Connecticut-based designer Tim Byrne has my dream job: He founded and runs Get Back Inc., a company that scours the American countryside gathering up U.S.-built furniture from the Industrial Revolution era and onwards. Gems like this Aseptic Metal Dental Cabinet, this unusual Stock Rack (any guesses on what the "stock" is?) and this old-school Garment Rack will make it back to Get Back's NYC or Connecticut showroom (shown above), where discerning designers and architects can snap them up for their projects.

Byrne, whom I'm guessing hails from somewhere in Ireland by the slight brogue heard in the video below, is also a designer in his own right. Inspired by the sturdy treasures collected by his company, he formed Dept. 87, an internal branch that produces original pieces. The most drool-worthy is probably his Swing Out Seat Table, made to order for 6 or 8 diners.

Here's a video with Byrne himself explaining what they do, and why:

Wow! This stuff is just awesome.
I've done work with this company in the past. Tim and his team are great people to work with. Creative, professional, and polite. Their prices are up there a ways, but this is the real thing you're getting - one of a kind pieces, so I think it's worth it. Plus, it wasn't MY money I was spending. They also have way more available than listed on their website. My client lives in the area and went to visit their showoom and was speechless for a few days afterwards.
