I'm a big tea drinker—hot in the winter and iced in the summer—it's the second largest consumed beverage in the world (right after water)! I was excited to see Kicker Studio's newest project: a digital solution to the age-old conundrum of brewing the perfect cup of tea.
A year in the making, Kicker has done a great service of documenting their process from research to outlining design principles and initial concepts. Their final product, the Tea Tumbler consists of a teapot, infuser, and heater combined into one device. "It uses a physical interface that subtly incorporates technology to help the user make a perfect cup of tea. The Kicker Tea Tumbler gives making tea a technology kick, without taking the tactile experience away from making tea."
Check out their behind-the-scenes process video and introduction to the final product after the jump!

Why does tea making need a technological kick?
Yes, we intentionally designed the chamber to allow the leaves to expand and float around during steeping. Some of the height of the chamber is tucked up in the cap!
Cheers,
Jennifer
