100% Design in Tokyo was this year art-directed by Michael Young. On the same venue was also the Blickfang Show (usually happening in Zurich, Vienna and Stuttgart), showing fresh design from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Some examples of this show are Sonja Vrbovszky's rubber boots with an integrated handle and some bling as well as Designshot's felt slippers Mein Held which are folded from one single piece of felt. Also shown above are Tukuri Te's Package Lamp, Supercent's wooden stereo with CD player and glass tube amplifier, Arabeschi di Latte's recycled wine bottles (re-valued simply by some electric cable wrapping), the wooden flat screen KAGU TV by Masashi Yonemoto (re-discovering the 50's and 60's design approach of TV as furniture), Max Lamb's DIY Chair (he demonstrated with hand drill and wood how to build it yourself and handed out the manuals fro free) and last but not least the Ring Mobile Phone prototype from a student competition by LG (unfortunately they were not able to provide the name of the designer, saying "it is just a student" and apparently students don't have names...?!).
