Design consultant Tom Ballhatchet, observing that most hamsters live on a bed of shredded paper, designed a way for the rodents to earn their keep: Turn their hamster wheel into a power source.
Ballhatchet's hamster-powered paper shredder isn't exactly efficient--it takes 45 minutes for one locomoting hamster to shred a single piece of paper--but it sure is environmentally friendly.
The London-based design consultant said: "I wanted to come up with a product that would capture people's imagination while addressing issues of topical concern such as climate change, recycling and identity fraud.
