At sidewalk cafes in New York, Rome, Saigon, or anywhere where snatch-and-grabs were once common, I had a habit of unclasping the shoulder strap on my messenger bag and re-clasping it around the chair's seatback. The idea was that a thief who tried to grab it and run would drag the chair along with him, perhaps unseating me, but certainly foiling his attempt at a quick getaway.
Kaman Tung is the first designer we've seen whose cafe furniture specifically voids this potential problem. His Family line of chairs incorporates elements meant to hold bags and laptops, and while his coathook chair doesn't specifically prevent theft, it does at least elevate your coat, keeping the bottom of it from resting on the floor.

great table, proportions look good. The coat hanger chair is the best one out of the three as it is a little more multi-functional.
Just a quick heads-up: Kaman is actually a (very pretty) young woman, not a "he" as your article mentions...
Now that is brilliant!! You won't have to worry about your valuables when you are sitting on them.
Have to agree with L. Kaman is a gorgeous young woman. I definitely love the furniture.
