Sofie Collin and Gustav Lanberg's solution for an effective rise 'n shine is, well, to simply rise. Their concept, the Carpet Alarm Clock, won't stop blaring until you roll out of bed and step on it. Snooze-prone sleepers are advised to place the clock at a challenging distance from the bed. An embedded LCD displays the time, which is interesting since you'd normally look around and not down. For those who still can't make it out of sleepy land, two alarms may be needed, the second preferably being another tricky clock.

Brilliant idea, but it looks more like a door mat, than a bedside carpet.
This is cool but they should have incorporated a scale into this product. Every morning when you wake up and turn off the alarm clock, it records your weight on a USB drive. Periodically you could pull out the USB drive plug it into your Mac/PC and monitor your weight gain/loss patterns. Imagine having years worth off data.
Even better, make it bluetooth.
