
These days, carpooling doesn't designate you as a 12 year-old soccer-loving youth. Coordinating shared rides is fast becoming an eco-trend among urban dwellers, and right on time, car-sharing rental company Zipcar founder Robin Chase has a handy new service to facilitate it all, as reported at BusinessWeek. Her new venture, GoLoco.org, connects prospective drivers and passengers via existing social networking sites, currently working exclusively with Facebook. Chase truly believes carpooling to be of the best choices in sustainable transportation--steps above hybrid vehicles. "Sharing a ride doubles passenger miles per gallon," she says. "That's better than any fuel-efficient car."
