While hanging things overhead always makes us nervous, the Gladiator GarageWorks Claw is rated to hold 50 pounds, based on lab tests of 200 pounds. The nifty device works like an inverted bear trap for your bicycle: Push the tire against the button and the claws clamp shut, keeping your Cannondale securely mounted to the ceiling.

Didn't I see this thing on that show "American Inventor"
I'm not sure why this is any better than a two-dollar screw-in hook.
besides being more expensive and more difficult to install and use, how is this an improvement over my never-failed $0.98 screw hook (with which you don't have to do some overhead aiming and balance act to push a button)?
does it seem like a little overkill?
have there been a lot of cases of bikes falling off of hooks?
the advantage i see with it is the decreased chance of putting tyre marks all over the walls and ceiling since the bike only needs to be moved up and down rather than the up and over of a "J" hook.
Yeah, and when you can hoist your 50 lb. bicycle to your ten foot ceiling, give me a call. I'm having enough trouble getting my 25 lb commuter on a Delta "Leonardo" hook 5 feet off the ground.
A masterwork of over engineering deserving of patent protection!
