These three designers have been steadily working, putting pen to paper--or at least pen to graphic tablet--to create spirited, fresh and sometimes frightening images.
Leonardo Baptista Lopes
Balneário Camboriú, Brazil
Leonardo Baptista Lopes' digital paintings are reminiscent of the rotoscoped, tripped out characters from "A Scanner Darkly". Like their dark(ly) inspirer, Lopes' grim, brooding and freakish characters live in an introspective dystopia.
N.C. Winters
Escondido, California
Introspection, detachment and melancholia are key themes in the work of N.C. Winters. His designs display his need to fill ever blank space with visual stimuli--or at least tame it, prompting the viewer to stay a while and search through the details of these solitary environments.
Karo Akpokiere
Lagos, Nigeria
Like the Nigerian underground hip hop and graffiti scene, Akpokiere's work is forceful and irreverent. The designs are ornate and dense with text and images that co-exist and collide (check out his stool drawings).

Hello,
I'm Leonardo, I am here to thank you for your review on my work, I really appreciate it. I was surprised when a friend of mine told me about your posting!
I would be glad to contact you, please feel free to use my e-mail.
Best regards,
Leonardo.
These are some very cool pieces of work. I particularly like Karo Akpokiere's work, it is very strong in composition.
N.C. Winters seems to have a distinct style from what I can tell, and is definately the strongest of the bunch however, I am dissapointed that Core's usually keen eye seems to have been off duty yesterday when these were posted. Unless you are showcasing the work of exceptional pre-college students, why would you ever bring this stuff to our attention? You say Leonardo Baptista Lopes' "grim, brooding and freakish characters live in an introspective dystopia" which maybe they do, but they are not well drawn/painted, and there is little regard for composition. Just a quick look at the website of say Jeremy Enecio (jenecio.com) shows how amature Leonardo's "digital artwork" is compared to a college students'. I realize the above mentioned people are young and I fully support helping young artists get their name out there, but you really dropped the ball this time Core.
Well, um thanks for the kind words! Not quite a student anymore, but I thank you for the comments nonetheless! There's plenty more at www.ncwinters.com. Thanks for the review of my work. Thanks also, TPKEKB!
Wow! this is totally unexpected. Thank you so much for the review and the comments. I am really appreciative. I am inspired to do more work and to get better at what I do
