Using plastics to foil crime? For this year's U.K.-based Design Innovation in Plastics student competition, entrants were asked to design polymer-based safety/security products. Top prize went to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design student Sara Bellini, whose purse-based suction cup adheres it securely to cafe tables, preventing passersby from doing the snatch-'n-grab. For her winning design Bellini won an internship, a scholarship and 1,000 pounds in cash, and with her sticking purse she has little fear of losing it.
