Some of these are a bit old, but all are neat examples of expandable furniture. The light fixture (first) is pretty cool, but it was the tables (second and third) that really blew us away:

where can I get a light like the one posted here
I have seen the expanding light elsewhere, its a rather incredible design. It could make the expression "I was in the dark" obsolete. No more clueless people haha.
the light is a recent design academy eindhoven graduate project. don't remember who made it..
I'm so getting those lights for the dining room.
Have a look here,
Braun Woodline presents you the first line of Round Expanding Tables endowed with an exclusive and patented mechanism allowing the table to remain perfectly circular in its spread position !
Finish with the constraints related to a Round Table which becomes oval when you foresee a big banquet. Innovative and unique, the Braun Woodline Expanding Table is stretchable and keeps its circular shape to accommodate up to 16 dinner guests when it is deployed.
