Amazon is currently taking pre-orders for Made in Russia: Unsung Icons of Soviet Design, a collection of fifty graphic and industrial designs that will be familiar to those acquainted with Soviet culture.
Made in Russia celebrates fifty such masterpieces, ranging from...the Lada car, the Sputnik rocket, and the Lomo camera, to icons of quotidian culture such as the fishnet shopping bag, the beveled twelve-sided glass, a Cold War-inspired arcade game, and Misha the Olympic bear.... The book is as much an intelligent reading book on forgotten aspects of Soviet culture as a tongue-in-cheek illustrated survey of an under-acknowledged but prolific period in Russian design and creativity.
The book features an introductory essay on design vis-a-vis Soviet culture, and each featured design is accompanied by an essay detailing its creation. Comes out on April 12th.

So the Lada a copy of Fiat 124 from 60's one decade earlier is a Soviet Design hahah! Made in Togliatti factory mounted by Italians.
There is nothing prolific about Soviet Design. Except weapons design.
Soviet culture is a postcard precisely for the inverse. Design rarity.
Now i expect a post also about Nazi designs.
what a stupid and ignorant comment. The Russians had some good products and excellent engineers. For example NASA's space shuttle was taken from them and refined as well as the US Presidents limousine which in fact was shipped to the states and the rebuilt. Before I forget the original Concord was done by them as well. Go do some research and find out ourselves.
The Diana camera pictured was first made in Hong Kong, it has nothing to do with Soviet design?!?
The LADA is a clone of the FIAT 124 model, so it is not a soviet design. The Gaz Volga can be considered instead a pure soviet design beauty in automotive industry.
regardless of the LADA, I hope the book mentions the soviet era statues, which are incredible - http://www.flickr.com/photos/90781590@N00/402246889 and the buildings. I think both are cornerstones of soviet design, art & inspiration.

I hope that is sarcasm. In case it is not -as the stupid tag seems to show - you are wrong in all of your examples.
So who is the stupid?
"The Gaz Volga can be considered instead a pure soviet design beauty in automotive industry."
There is nothing unique: "pure" "beauty"or relevant about Gaz Volga.

do your research and you'll find out the Americans at some point got a hold of a vehicle like this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buran_program was wrong about this one
many great ideas came from Russia
Tu144 is a copy of Concorde. What an armored car as to do with US presidents car. It is like saying that a car as a seat so it is copied from first car that had a seat. duh!
No not many great ideas came from Russia compared to Italy, France, Germany, UK with half population of Russia they created thousands more things for people. The Russia design creations can be considered a desert except in weapon systems - and its Navy was build with Italian help even when the Regime was Communist in Russia and Fascist in Italy. Kirov cruisers, Destroyers, the not finished battleships were all Italian in concept from Ansaldo works.
Imagine how world would be if they proportionally created the same amount of the countries i refereed above.
