VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2011Every summer tourists sashay through Europe to munch on profiteroles, ogle Da Vincis and take in an opera; but last June, Marcus Mumbach criss-crossed the continent from Italy to Finland, England to Poland, for one purpose only: To document big, monstrous construction machines on pixel.
Mumbach works for German website Bauforum24, "Das Portal fur Bau und Baumaschinen," ("Bau" means construction, we're sure you can figure out the rest) and has helped to complete their first Heavy Equipment Calendar for 2010. The calendar replaces traditional pin-up girls with single drum roller trucks, 2-plus-2 wheel loaders and 525-ton mining excavators, so you can throw this one up on the wall in your garage shop without getting an earful from the missus.
