After stumbling upon this rant, we couldn't help but ask: What's with the continued proliferation of tasteless glass, plastic, and metal television stands in the homes of our clueless friends, relatives, and neighbors? Well, to any guilty owner's credit, they're often thrown in as a freebie, usually "match" the display somewhat in shape and color, and are an easy option for the consumer who doesn't care to think about it or look around for other options. Flat-screens have been all the rage for a while and a day now, yet fugliness continues to ensue in the TV stand department, undoubtedly with many flat tube-watchers still opting for that familiar does-the-trick model.

These particular stands are always the worst to stub your toe on, bump your knee into, and have your toddler slice himself up on by accident. They also do a great job of showing off your receiver, DVD player, gaming consoles, and that ol' VCR--not to mention all those lovely cords that come with them. But alas, the truth is that in any product category, varying levels of beauty, utility, tastelessness, and anti-intuitive blunders are mixed and matched, making up the wide variety we use to employ our power of choice. Anyway, if you have no idea why these particular styles of stands are so gross, then hats off to you--enjoy!
