Say Paris - think Eiffel, say Sydney - think Operahouse, say Berlin - think TV Tower. Landmarks matter and obviously have a symbolic role in the identity of a city.
A 187.000.000 Euro icon coming up in your town makes you curious, so we went out to hear more during a Sneak Preview Night by a team of experts on a new building that will be rising the skies starting 2007. Ascan Mergenthaler lead us through Herzog & de Meuron's design (wow!) process, transforming the Kaispeicher--a classic 60's warehouse--into a futuristic concept along the river, the Elbe Philharmonic.
Making the impossible possible at this level is worth some applause...just like they received last Thursday night.
