The Sweep-Away Cabinet Vac is a vacuum unit that you install in your kitchen cabinet, along with an inlet that goes in the toekick. The idea is that you sweep your dust over to the suction slot and turn it on, no more dustpans. This is a pretty neat idea, but we're curious to see if it really works; does anyone actually have one of these?
(Sorry about the crappy photos, but you should see the product website, which looks like it was designed with scissors, Letraset and ADD.)

my friend has had one of the toe kick vacuums for about 5 years in his country home kitchen in WestChester PA, it works great! I can't tell you how helpful the thing is after a field party that floats indoors...
yeah these things work great, we've had these in since we built our latest family house, about 4 years ago.
It's actually and old invention some 10 years ago. We installed them in the kitchen and bathrooms with the idea that a quick sweep of the dust and crumbs into the slot does wonders.
Its not new, but are never really installed as the contractors that undertake the ducted work find them hard and fidly to install.
have one in my house for about 4 years works just dandy
Sounds nifty, but at $300 it seems a bit pricey for something so limited & specific in it's use. Not to mention the loss in storage space. I can buy a lot of dust pans for $300.
I recently purchased the sweep away cabinet vac and absolutley love it. I purchased the stretch hose with it and use it to clean my counter tops etc. The dustpan feature is great for quick clean ups. I'm amazed at how much suction it has. I don't think people understand that this is a vacuum as well as a dustpan!!
The sweep away does work actually! Its a great product! For those talking about the price and that fact that you lose storage space you dont. Actually that is what the built in shelf is for. Also with a 30' strech hose u can do carpets and countertops. So it is well worth the $299! While the vacpan part has been in the industry awhile youve always had to have the whole central vac, but now with the Sweep-Away you get a mini central-vac with the vacpan!
PS- My dad and his friend are the inventors of the Sweep-Away. And it is currently around the world and will soon be seen inside Airplanes, Cruise ships, and Hotels! I think that speaks for itself on how good the product is!
