We find it very interesting that the iPhone has become the rope in a tug of war between Apple and a core group of hackers, as the latter group cracks the phone open for third-party apps and the former responds by releasing software updates that "brick" the thing as soon as they're loaded. Traditionally it's been Apple that seemed to give its users well-conceived and desirable tools, while getting Microsoft products to do what you wanted them to always required complicated workarounds. The iPhone wars are essentially a "What I want" vs. "What They Want" battle, with Apple as one of the unlikely combatants, and we're well curious to see how it turns out.
