Here's a video of the new LG Decoy, the first phone with a detachable Bluetooth earpiece integrated into the design. Um...why has this design taken so long to get to market, did no one really think of this earlier? Like, say, when Bluetooth first came out?
What do you think of the detachable earpiece, do you like it, or would you lose it?

HATE bluetooth headsets anywhere outside of a car, by yourself. If you have one on and you are just walking around with it on, you look like a tool and you know it. Secondly, if you have one on, and you are talking on it, you look like a crazy person. When will it end?
Sign me up! The only thing I don't like is the extra bulk it adds to the phone. I think it could have easily been made to detach from the top of the phone (or bottom for that matter) and it not add bulk.
I think the headset is a lot less likely to be lost since all you have to do is clip it back on when you're done using it. If you already are carrying a headset around in addition to a phone, then it's definitely less bulky.
@NURB, I don't know where you're from, but in New York City (and Sci Fi television), wearing bluetooth headsets in public is becoming more common and socially acceptable. This is likely because people don't know where to put it when it's not in use, and often phone ringers are routed through the connected headset, so you want to keep it on your ear. With the headset on the Decoy, when you clip it to the back, audio is back to the phone's speakers AND you have some place to keep the headset! Such a great design. I'm glad I thought of it 5 years ago. :)
I've heard some mixed opinions on this... Some, like Brit, don't like the way they integrated it - too bulky or ugly, whatever. Some don't like it because they want choice in a BT headset. This makes some sense, I guess the key is whether the built-in headset is any good or not - if it fails, and you rely on using a headset, then the design is ridiculous. If it's a good headset, though, then I'm all for the design. I'd still want a separate stereo 'set for listening to music, but having this built-in one available is a brilliant idea. NURB, while I agree with you, I also think anyone walking around on their phone (w/ or w/o a headset) talking all loud-like is being a tool.
its practical- the baby-boomer types would love it and they don't care how bulky a phone is cause they all have blackberries
