Tomorrow Pure Digital introduces the Flip Mino. A significantly smaller (40%) next generation model featuring 2GB of internal storage for holding an hour of footage, a sealed rechargeable Li-ion, 1.5-inch anti-glare screen, touch-sensitive buttons and a TV output.
All sounds good but we've been road testing the super lo-fi Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder the last few months with mixed results. The unit is dead simple to operate, not precious which is great while traveling and the friendly chic design doesn't intimidate people who are spontaneously put on the spot for an interview. Aside from the very sensitive directional microphone, the one thing that needs to be addressed is a wide(er) angle lens. You find yourself constantly stepping back and back to get everything in frame, it'll be interesting to see what the feedback is from competitors models like the Vado from Creative.
