Following our recent post on Beplushave's Castiglioni reinterpretation comes yet another lo-fi lighting proposal:

Maybe less a reaction to the recession and more to the expensive culture of the over-designed, haute task lamp, Seth Quest and Megan Heacock White have designed the Recession Desk Lamp, appropriately constructed of a tin can, a metal pipe (conduit?), and a block of wood.

In addition to commenting on the task light, the project also seeks "to expose the dichotomy between mass production and hand crafted limited edition design pieces," utilizing very inexpensive parts alongside a high quality walnut base. I'm not so sure how well the "dichotomy" is really exposed, but they do make the interesting point that the use of the walnut base extends the lifespan of the other elements.

Seth has a designed a few other lamps, and though not officially labeled "Recession Lamps," they also combine simple materials in search of greater effects. These include the Boing Lamp and Knot Lamp, pictured above.
