While Apple has achieved major cell phone market share with just a singular product, Motorola is taking a very different tack in their bid to regain popularity: This morning they announced they're releasing "at least 20" smartphones this year across the globe, starting with the Backflip and the Quench (pictured below).
Will we see some of that historically sporadic Motorola design magic? Largely considered an also-ran these days, some of you will remember a time when the Razr--and way before that, the Star-Tac--was the must-have phone.
There's no word on what interesting design features the other 18 smartphones will have, but the Quench has an actual flashlight, not just an app, built into the device. Stay tuned to see if such tricks help Motorola illuminate its way back to market relevance.
