Breaking the stereotype of organic clothing as crunchy, casual wear, the cutting-edge Danish fashion label Noir has just announced its plans to make its international debut with a stand-alone store in Dubai.

Noir not only purchases goods that support sustainable businesses in developing nations such as Uganda (about 70 percent of the line was made from certifiable materials), but they are also developing a collection of organic cottons to launch it's forth-coming sister company, Illumanati II later this year.

By participating in various international accords like the UN's Global compact on Principals, the ILO Conventions and the ICC's Business Chapter for Sustainable Development, Noir has established a code of conduct for their suppliers, whose aim is

to ensure social and environmental standards are in accordance with internationally recognised minimum standards on human rights, labour and the environment [...and...] extends to all workers who are engaged informally, on short-term contracts, or on a part-time basis with suppliers or sub-suppliers.

But, though virtuous, there is nothing goody-two-shoes about Noir. The eco-conscious brand, founded by Dane Peter Ingwersen three years ago, has been generating rave reviews among the fashion-forward set with it's "fetish-meets-precision-tailoring" look. Like its slightly sinister name suggests, Noir's range that is oozes modern, sleek, sex appeal from every single stitch, but Ingwersen says his intent was to "create meaningfulness in the luxury sector."
