Brooklyn-based designer Kiel Mead's delicate, tongue-in-cheek jewelry collection is crowned with the Retainer necklace, a reminder of a time that was "special" to all of us. Having finally graduated from braces and rubber bands, the retainer symbolizes near dental freedom--a rite of passage to glamour-smile city. Sure, you may have thought it was gross back in the day, with food particles, bad breath, and a spit-lisp in tow...but anything, even a retainer, becomes smokin' hot bling when turned to shiny gold.
