In this silly video, American Idol loser and hairdo criminal Sanjaya Malakar claims his whole talent show stint was the basis of a design installation project, you know, since he's really Bill Vendall, a grad ID student at RISD. Sounds like a stretch, but, um, maybe it's an ethnographic study in pop culture (doubtful).
In a later confession video (sweet highlights, dude), Sanjaya's all chuckles and hoots when he claims Will Ferrell put him up to the gag. In any case, the brains (Ryan Seacrest?) behind this operation must've known a thing or two about the scene (hint: check out those glasses!)...

Crap.. and i thought the age of Phillipe Stark designers was over...
Now instead of explaining ID as "...kind of like the architecture of everything but buildings..."
I can just say "You know Sanjaya? Thats what industrial design is"
