Crawford Partnership, a London-based architecture and interiors firm, has completed Snowden House I & II. These two residences both make use of nearly "unusable" and oddly-shaped plots of land near tall buildings. The houses uphold an ideal of sleek modern style and are built around the idea of vertical space, above and below ground, in order to maximize efficiency and amenities. The houses also reference traditional Middle Eastern "Windtower" courtyard dwellings, which are secure, internal, high-walled areas situated at the center of all living accommodations.
