No more cryin' over spilled milk! We can't help but chuckle at The Splash Lounge Chair, designed by Michael L. Wendel. A post-pop-kitsch-piece, this lounge brings comfort, humor and memories of all those slow-mo videos (!!!) into the home. Originally formed in Sculpey clay at 1/8th inch scale, the model was then cut up into 1/4 inch slices, scanned, blown up to full size plotted and used as templates for the full scale model. The form itself is made of pink insulation foam coated in Elmer's Glue. A fiberglass skin, covered in Bondo and white high-gloss epoxy give the Splash it's milky glow.

Another example of proving philippe stark right about design/designers. This is horrible. Its very likely that designers will hammer the final nail in the climate change coffin with junk like this. How about designing a fun chair out of sustainable and functional materials rather than fetishizing kitsch excess.
rajio, why don't you make a person that cares out of sustainable materials, and complain to them - I'm pretty sure this was just a prototype, and it's fun. Why can't design just be fun? Why has it become our job to save the world?
