Tadpole iPod case for ankle-biters
Posted by Jeannie Choe | 18 Dec 2006  |  Comments (2)

These Tadpole iPod cases from iFrogz are, without a doubt, reminiscent of Richard Hutten's Dumbo training cups. While the cups serve a logical purpose, training youngsters to ingest fluids necessary to prevent dehydration and imminent death, the Tadpole case is a well-designed, effective accessory for an expensive electronic product who's mass majority of users are at a sufficient age where giant handles are not necessary.

The Tadpole could just be an iMod fluke, where the target user couldn't possibly comprehend the iPod's interface. Plus who is effing crazy enough to drop this kind of cash on a 2-year old!? On the other hand, could this be an indicator of our escalated adaptation to and obsession with technology working hand in hand with an omnipresent worship of materialism? If so, then iFrogz has cleverly infiltrated a lucrative market--one where future-savvy parents bombard their young'ns with the hippest, hottest, latest and the greatest anything and everything. So really, there should be no surprise that the iPod, everyone's favorite phenomenon, will find its way into tiny hands for a "training" sesh...where Tadpole will become a vital part of early childhood iDevelopment.

There are no prices that I could find on the site, but I assume the target audience is parents who already have iPods slipping them into this to entertain the toddler while the parent is otherwise engaged. I would be surprised if they're more than $40 - which I would certainly drop.

I like the idea. My daughter wants to do everything I do anyways (computer, gamble, etc.) why not let her use the old ipod when the new one comes out. It gives these ipods a longer lifespan
