Is it any wonder why country folk hate city folk? We urban dwellers tend to assume the entire world is just an extension of ours.
Case in point, a recent article in the L.A. Times that proclaims
Forget great rooms, walk-in closets and spa-like bathrooms. The home office has become the new staple of the American home.
They then back that up with a slideshow...of home offices belonging to what appears to be exclusively wealthy Los Angelenos. What, your home office doesn't look like these? What's the matter with you? Just install a patio, some palm trees, commission a brand-name architect, and alter the weather so the sun shines all the time.
If I could afford a home office that looked like some of these, I'm not even sure I'd need to work.

Have you seen http://www.biscade.com/office/ - it's an interestingly over-the-top lead user kitted out home office - makes an interesting point of contrast to the LA elite offices you're showing.
