A New Perspective

This table is the start of a project illustrating the reality of objects in terms of their materials, manufacture and possible use. This piece means to encourage investigation into how things are made. With a little effort our curiosity is satisfied. When standing in a particular spot, the graphic on the table becomes the very structure of its own construction. Much like an X-ray of the table.
Power of CUTE : thesis project

"Cuteness is used to soften up the vertical society, (and also) to soften power relations and present authority without being threatening." -Brian J. Mcveigh, scholar of Asian studies, University of Arizona. In my thesis I will investigate the power of "cuteness", and how it changes the connotative meaning of the object itself. I will also explore whether the appearance of object is enough to dictate a person's actions. I.e. Feeling at ease or ill at ease as a direct result of its appearance.
