Lately we've several table-and-four-chairs combos that combine into a single monolithic unit. While the supposed space-saving benefits of such designs don't seem real to us, they do make for some pretty aesthetics. Click the link below to read on.

The idea's not new--Danish designer Hans Olsen's been doing this since at least 1953 (example above)--but it is seeing a resurgence.

Gloster's weatherproof Sushi Table (above), made of wicker and glass, takes this concept out to the patio.

Sandra Kragnert's Fusion set for Ikea (above) obviously has something in common with Marta Antoszkiewicz's Kitchenette set (below), though it's the latter that apparently came out first.

Antoszkiewicz's striking follow-up Bulb table (below), which inverts the chairs for storage, has so far remained unimitated.

Antoszkiewicz's design will remain 'unimitated' because it doesn't work -- what keeps the chair and the sitter from rolling over backward? Miraculous anti-gravity, gyroscopic balanced chairs. Stop posting concepts that don't work.

Smart and compact solutions for shrinking-houses are always welcomed! Hope that prices are down-scaled too!
