While browsing FutureFeeder I came across this link to an animation showing the growth of Wal-Mart stores in America beginning in 1964. Wal-Mart has spread like a cancer eminating from the heartland, and I honestly have no idea how they can possibly keep opening another 1000 stores each year, or whatever the number is.

Everyone complains about Wal-Mart... What about the Starbucks schucking out $4 coffee- everyone is accepting their omnipresence.
WOW I would love to see this worldwide with mcdonalds
It looks like an infection spreading across the land. Nice find!
For a supposed de-facto news source on industrial design, core77 seems to be doing an awful lot of editorializing lately. Can we please avoid the reposting of boingboing'd and mefi'd links and just stick to I.D.? Thanks...
This graphic is very important. It very much speaks to a trend - both in business and consumers. I disagree with "cp", Core 77 needs to continue observing and reporting on issues that have an impact on our industry.
