Most of the emergency telephone boxes you see on the side of a U.S. highway (top) are sad little metal contraptions. The UK's Thompson Technik, on the other hand, has designed a prettier line of callboxes (bottom) using rotation molding.
You may be wondering "Why rotation molding, isn't that expensive?" As Thompson Technik explains, "The requirement for the cabinet in a range of colours means that product volumes are relatively small, which makes rotational moulding the most cost effective manufacturing route."
The elements-proof cases are produced from medium-density polyethylene in a matte finish, and look a damn sight better than the fusebox-looking things us wandering Yanks have to look at.
