Wii consumers have reported numerous cases of the controller strap breaking, sometimes resulting in TV and window damage. Nintendo will replace all broken straps for free and are now developing an "enhanced" strap that will be less prone to breakage.

Makes me think of the old adage about doing it right the first time. I'd guess they went cheap on the strap. That leads one to wonder if they actually believed sales would take off, because obviously the less the product, the less issue their is in going cheap in the first place.
well if you got outa the house and did some exercise you might not drop that "not very heavy" controller... :)
Nintendo's response: follow the instructions. I don't think it is really down to the strap... but it should have been better anyway. Always design for the idiots that will use it :-)
ok, maybe cross out 'design for idiots' and replace with 'design for extreme conditions'. ;-)
